An article about one of the strangest stories I have ever heard told and though the years have passed my mind still recalls the moment my colleague at work shared it with those of us who were present.
There are stories we hear and forget and there are those that for some reason we never forget, perhaps it is that they are so off the beat and path that they stick out in our minds or it might be that there is something about them that the passage of time will not erase from our memories. Such was the story I heard one day while working at "John Hancock Clearing Corporation" in the mutual funds department.
It all started when Edward Perez, a coworker of mine from the Dominican Republic started to tell us about a radio talk show program he liked to listen to while driving to work. It being one of those programs on which people called to tell all the strange things that happened in their lives or what ever was on their minds which they considered worthy of note.
The story was about a man who had rather a strange habit which involved meeting ladies in bars or where ever the occasion might present itself and then inviting them over to his apartment for more drinks. After which he and these ladies would engage in activity of the more intimate kind that sees acts of carnality take their course. Needless to say this in and of itself can not be considered out of the ordinary in any way however it was what happened next that can.
Once these women, fell asleep after having had one drink too many and perhaps a nice tumble in the sheets, this rather odd fellow would take a razor and no not harm these ladies but shave off certain hairs on their bodies. Naturally the ones I have in mind are those that for the most part are not visible to any when fully clothed and are to be found in the most intimate part of a woman's anatomy.
Yes, in fact pubic hair was what this man was after; which once shaven ever so delicately as to not awaken his victim, he would place in to small plastic bags, on which he would put on the name of the victim and add to his collection. It was almost as trophies that he kept these small plastic bags of all different color hair.
According to Edward Perez, the radio host or hostess; which ever one it was as this he did not mention asked this man if he knew what he was doing was not normal; to which he replied that he was aware it was not but also felt it was something he just could not stop doing. This man even went on to mention how afterwards on many an occasion he had received angry phone calls from these ladies who had lost their private hair, some of whom would hurl insults at him while others would make threats. He even told of how once a woman became so furious she chased him with a knife until she finally calmed down.
I for my part find this story amusing simply because though this man's actions might be extremely strange they when one considers the matter logically are not harmful in any real way, after all he is neither killing nor hurting anybody in any serious manner, such as cutting of a hand or a finger or anything of the sort. He is merely cutting of hair which like all which can be found in the body will grow back, perhaps it is very funny if one thinks of it but people are strange that is for sure.
Edward also told those of us at work about another man who had gone on the radio to tell his story which though perhaps less dramatic did have something of interest. It was about a man who had a very skinny girlfriend who enjoyed making love to him but always while being on top. This of course is nothing all that odd but what was is that in those moments when the action got intense and a certain moment in her body was due to arrive she would slap him in the face as hard as she could. This an action she would do several times during those flashes of passion though later on she could not remember the deed nor anything of it and would have nothing to indicate to her what had been other then her lover's words and marked face.
The radio host or hostess, naturally in his or her concern told this man to be careful; for one day he might end up seriously getting hurt which he replied that he was aware of this but knew not how to get his girlfriend to change positions.
There are many weird stories in the world but when they are true as opposed to being fiction; they perhaps become more interesting as they cease to be but a product of someone's imagination whilst they take on reality. This being more likely what will effect us some day as opposed to something that we consider impossible. It is with this concept in mind that I decided to write this article to give mention to those peculiarities of life, which are just that though at times they can go a little beyond as was the case with Lorena Babbitt and her knife which almost left a man without that certain something that makes all the difference.
Regarding Edward Perez, it has been years since I have had the pleasure of his society however he did inspire the character "Manual Diaz", to be found in my third book "What Should Not Matter". As it was his sense of humor and generally the nice person he was that lead me to create a person for my book based on his tender attributes and manly ways.
